Cultural Initiatives
Ongoing cultural efforts that strengthen Long Island’s unity and creativity.

National Arts Festival
Strengthen Long Island’s participation in the
E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival by guiding schools, community groups, and independent entrants through class selection, preparation, and rehearsal support. This work ensures that performers are confident, informed, and ready to present strong cultural works at the national level.
Junkanoo
Develop local Junkanoo capacity by supporting junior and senior groups across the island. This includes fostering intergenerational participation, expanding skill development, and helping communities to maintain and grow Junkanoo traditions for future generations.

Cultural Shows
Facilitate cultural performances that showcase the talents of local students, community groups, and independent artists. These shows build local cultural pride, and provide a consistent and sustainable platform for Long Islanders to express and celebrate their creativity.
Cultural Preservation
Document the stories, practices, crafts, and traditions that shape Long Island’s cultural identity, and make this knowledge accessible through community sharing and education. This effort helps ensure that the island’s heritage is understood, valued, and carried forward by future generations.
