About Us

Division of Cultural Affairs, Long Island

The Bahamas Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture's Division of Cultural Affairs leads national efforts to preserve, promote, and support The Bahamas' creative and cultural life.

On Long Island, the Cultural Affairs Officer serves as the official representative of the Division, overseeing cultural programs, community outreach, and festival preparation across all settlements.

This website — LongIslandCulture.com — functions as the island’s central hub for cultural information, initiatives, and support resources. The purpose of this website is to make it easier for residents to engage with cultural programs and ensure that Long Island’s artistic and cultural contributions are recognized throughout The Bahamas and the wider world.

Who We Are

The cultural life of Long Island is made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Long Island Cultural Affairs Officer and a dedicated network of School Culture Coordinators and Cultural Advisors who serve the island’s communities.

Together, we form the Long Island Culture Committee, working collaboratively to preserve heritage, inspire artistic growth, and represent Long Island at the national level.
